Journal entries are just that – the digital copy of my hand-written entries in my journal. If you aren’t interested in the daily details of our adventure, feel free to skip on to the next “regular” post.
I read through the paperwork that came with the RV and find a few pages that discuss the generator. Read about half of them and go check the oil – it’s fine. Good level and doesn’t look dirty. While I am looking at that Ashley reads where I left off. “It cuts off between 1/4 and 1/8 of a tank of gas.” Oh yeah! I knew that and had forgotten, and we are definitely in that range. I planned last night on getting more gas at the station across the street once we head out.
Mystery mostly solved, we have breakfast and circle around the block to park in the Target parking lot. We head in to Starbucks for our morning coffee and some journaling/reading. They are waiting for a replacement part, so there is no brewed coffee.
Finishing our coffee, we head into Target to look for some clothes. I’ve lost ~45 lbs since November and am still wearing the same clothes. I saw some shorts and jeans for sale last night and hope to find some good deals.
After looking for approximately an hour I find one pair of shorts that I like. Poor girl, working the changing room, has a whole stack of discards from me. Ashley finds a skirt (she’s only bought a few clothing items since November and needs more as well).
We head to Maurices and Khols, but no luck there, either. Oh well. I can look for jeans elsewhere along the way.
Past lunch time, we head to the RV for a meal and then to the gas station for a fill-up. Pulling out of the way we park and test the generator. Nothing. I go around and prime it. Starts right up. Success! Elated, I close the access panel and we head on our way.
Still seeing lots of motorcycles and toy-hauler RVs heading the opposite way.
I see a sign for Cabelas and pull in out of curiosity. I’ve read that they generally offer free overnight parking and often have water and dump stations. Want to see for myself. They have at least 30 parking spots and a dump station ($5) so we pull in one and go inside to explore. I end up giving the sales kid advice about backpacking gear. He’s just starting out and asked which stove and tent I have and would recommend. Ashley comes to save me.
Back in the RV, Ashley looks up some things online while I run into Menards to return a couple of unused gaskets.
More RVs have joined us when I return and we decide to stop for the night. There appear to only be rest stops ahead of us anyway.
I turn the RV around and level it for the night. We research to see what is near by.
We read before supper then head out on bicycles for about 10 miles. Find the university and tour campus and run across the grocery store that I read about. We stop in to see what they offer (like octopus, apparently) and then continue on our way.
More reading before bed.
