Woke early and headed up through Boulder into Rocky Mountain National Park. It's still early in the season so a lot is still closed but we hike through the snow up past Bear Lake, Nymph Lake and Dream Lake - not quite making it to Emerald Lake. Recent snow fall so the trail wasn't very obvious - plus, the frozen and snowed-over lakes all look pretty similar. Then down the road a bit and we hiked up to Alberta Falls. Finally we drove the rest of the roads that were open, enjoying the overlooks and watching the herd of elk grazing just beside the road. Picked the trailer back up at the visitor center, got postcards, and then headed through Longmont to try and miss the worst of Denver traffic. Dunno if we made it, as it ran pretty slow through the city center, but on the far side we stopped for wifi at McDonalds (and shakes!) and then debating how much further we want to try and drive tonight.
Went to Smiley Cafe this morning and painted for a bit on the Yosemitewatercolor. Then met with Hayley from Local First about mural projectsalong the North Main corridor and finally on in to work. Caught up on stuffwith Leslie and Kayleigh from the last week or so and enjoyed a quick lunchwalk for about 30 minutes. Warm and ice cream sounded great. Got the orderabout 2/3 done and Kayleigh surprised us with ice cream cones (drumsticks).Ashley came and we went to Cantera for supper - great food! Home for arelaxing evening.
In to work and a day of running errands, it feels like. Planned out a newfloor layout around the register for the store during the remodel. Pickedup a bit of carpet for the frame shop display wall, and ran to pick up theorder so that we actually got it roughly on time. Home for the evening andstrolled around the lake before settling in to read.
Up and watched the church service. Beautiful weather so we went for a driveup to Vallecito to spot where we hiked to yesterday, then into Bayfield tolook for a few things needed to let me open the store up tomorrow. Home andI went into Durango to find thermometers (2 of 4 discovered) on themotorcycle - so at least I got a nice bike ride in! First of the season.Put bolts in the beam in the basement and hung up the hammock. Put the headon the PVC stick figure so he's ready to go - just needs to be washed andthen posed for photos.
Ashley went to the farm to help with spring prep work. Lily and I hung out.We went into Bayfield and grabbed lunch at Brenda's (Lily was hungry assoon as we hit the road) and picked up some items at the hardware store.Ashley got back and I worked on the chicken tractor a bit more. We had ahello fresh meal for supper. Watched a show and read before bed.
Ashley and I went to the dentist in the morning. Lily watched most ofAshley's cleaning. I have a small cavity to get filled in a few weeks. Thenon to work. (Nice to be on the motorcycle.) Looked through lists ofmanufacturers in China to offer private labeled items for the store.Changed the marquis sign. Home for common meal - Ashley helped cook.
