Busy parking lot - a bunch of semis and 4 RV's - one of the Unimog ones, too! We woke early and headed back to Carlsbad. After having coffee and breakfast the cave still wasn't open just yet so we walked the nature trail and worked on the Jr. Ranger book. Headed into the Natural Opening for the other self-guided tour. Just as amazing as yesterday, but we almost had the place to ourselves. What an amazing experience! Definitely one of our favorite caves. Back at the Big Room, we went ahead and did that tour again. I stopped at the shortcut for a quick sketch of the Chandelier. After getting my Jr. Ranger badge, we snagged some postcards (including some of the Ranger Daves' posters ones that we'd missed earlier) and hit the road once more. Wind was really picking up on the road. I stopped to top off gas and get a couple of things from the store and we decided to stand wait a bit, the RV was really rocking. Finally we headed on, though it hadn't lessened much. Gusts up to 70mph. Stopped at The Camp @ Cloudcroft in Mayhill for a couple of nights. Full hook-ups in a nearly empty privately owned campground. Loving the place and the utilities for the first time in a few weeks.
Dropped Ashley off at work for the day, picked up some ingredients for soupand then home. Gary was walking Trixie. I put together veggie soup and wechatted then Mom got up and I made coffee for eveyone. After getting readyfor the day we went and ate at CJ's diner before checking out the ArtSupply House and downtown. Mom checked out the thrift store and wemeandered on home. Rest for a bit before I went to pick up Ashley. Back athome we headed to the River Trail for a walk, leaving Gary to rest. Homefor supper and chatting before bed.
Woke early but Mom decided not to try and meet up in Albuquerque so we hada slow morning before heading down to visit Lisa and Tim. Drove that wayand had lunch at a brewery in Bernallio. Really tasty! Then on to Tim andLisa's. We got the updated tour of their house (and yard!) and visited fora bit. Then we headed to a park to play pickle ball - which we enjoyed morethan I thought we would. Supper and a drink at Bombs Away brewery beforeheading back to the house where we watched youtube videos and the girlsmade brownie cookies that we ate with ice cream. Finally bed time.
Up late, getting the email ready for the store and a few odds-n-ends. Thenup early to get the day started with Ashley and Lily. Ashley went into theoffice to get her computer and such for the first day back at work. Then Iheaded into the store for the day. Called Kristen who's home sick, alsocalled Robin. Let everyone know that I'm laying them off so they can getstarted at unemployment. Felt bad doing so but also relieved at having adirection. The health department put out a quot stay at homequot recommendation sotomorrow will be the last day the store's open. Home for the evening andjust hung out with Ashley and Lily.
We all went to Brenda's for breakfast, just beat the rush. Home where Momand Lily took naps. Kind of a lazy day, with lots of reading. I checked theweather and it looks like incoming snow, so Mom and Gary rushed to get outof the mountains before it hit. They made it to Walsenberg. We threw somesteaks into the sous vide so that the entree was ready when we got backfrom the Treehouse. Read before bed.
Working day. Ashley and Lily came in to town and we walked around a bit onthe river trail and then had supper at Primi Pasta.
