Woke up and headed out to Chisos Basin. Parked and headed up the trail to Emory Peak, the tallest point in the park. About 5.25 miles each way and a 2,5 00 ft elevation gain. We definitely felt out of practice, but the view was worth it! Sat on top and enjoyed lunch and then I watercolored the view. Luck ed into a free Gatorade, as someone before us brought a 6 pack and didn't want to drink them all, or carry them back down. Headed back down, but the visitor center was closed so I drew a picture of it instead of getting a stamp i n my Jr. Ranger book. Was comfortable up on the trail but the ride down was warm - another day in the upper 90s. Ashley fixed supper while I went around and drew then watercolored some. Planning on getting up early to hike to the hot springs for a soak in the cool morning.
Slept in late-ish since Ash didn't have to go in at regular time. Work day.Supper and reading in the evening.
Ashley had to head to work a bit early and I had the rental car to return. So I had a slow morning at home after seeing her off before heading in towork myself. Caught up with Robin and Kristen at the store, took care ofsome chores, and dropped the car off. They waived any fee for the chip inthe windshield, so that's nice. After a ride back to the store Robin and Iworked on a potential solution for a big, chipping painting. Jeramiahstopped by and gave his input as well. Then Ashley was ready so we headedon home and got a walk in around the neighborhood before heading home. Shefixed supper while I consolidated notes from the trip down to Bouse. Thenwe removed the dishwasher and got it outside in preparation for the new onearriving tomorrow. Reading a bit before heading to bed. Good to be backhome with Ashley!
Woke up to about a foot of snow! Fed and held Lily in the morning beforeheading into work. Nice to just put the Jeep in 4x4 and drive on outwithout having to shovel (other than off the Jeep itself). Easy if slowdrive in to work. Spoke with Bob about refinancing - looks like it's agreat time to do that so it's in process. Really slow day at the store butgot some framing projects taken care of and received most of the indoorhydroponic garden components so can start putting that together. Chattedwith Stephanie (and Janna stopped by to visit with Ashley at the house) andeveryone's doing pretty ok. Picked up some more groceries and headed homefor the evening. Made some progress on the garden set-up then off to bed.
Smoothies for breakfast. Pretty tasty and filling. I ran the frame shop forthe day and got some chores done. Picked up groceries before leaving town.Cleaned up in the basement and put down the murphy bed in prep for Mom andGary arriving tomorrow. Ashley's stomach hurt so she slept downstairs onthe couch. We read together for a bit before I headed to bed.
